Aliments du Québec au menu – Volet Restaurateurs is a recognition program aimed at restaurants who value the use of Aliments du Québec and Aliments préparés au Québec. Establishments that reserve a place of choice for Quebec food products in their kitchen are invited to take part in this initiative.
How does it works?
The program is aimed at restaurants whose menu is composed of a minimum of 60% of Québec-sourced ingredients, on an annual basis. When evaluating a menu, the Aliments du Québec team validates the origin of the ingredients and the suppliers in order to determine the eligibility of the establishment.
Any eligible restaurant, whose menu has been duly recognized, can then be displayed as a partner institution of the Aliments du Québec au menu – Volet Restaurateurs. Various promotional tools will be made available.
What does it entail?
The establishment wishing to take part in the Aliments du Québec au menu – Volet Restaurateurs program must register on the Aliments du Québec website. In addition, partner institutions must confirm their participation in this program on an annual basis.
When registering, the establishment must provide its menu, the list of ingredients including their provenance and the list of their suppliers. Please note that the term "supplier" refers to a Québec producer or a company that completely transforms its product in Québec. If the establishment purchases from a distributor (eg GFS, Sysco, Dubé Loiselle, Alimplus or others), it must provide the name of the producer or processor, in addition to the name of the distributor, if applicable.
Aliments du Québec will conduct an annual random audit of registered establishments. This verification may imply that the restaurateur gives access to his invoices or to any information allowing to validate the origin of the ingredients and to ensure that the menu submitted corresponds to the standards of the program.
