5 Tips to Survive the Heat Wave

After several months complaining about the rain and the cold, we certainly won’t complain about a few warm days. That said, during a heat wave, it is essential to make every effort not to succumb to a heat stroke. Let's say that this unhappy discomfort would quickly destroy all your plans for the weekend. Here is a small survival guide for the "many" heat waves that will fall on Quebec during the summer.

1. Find an air-conditioned place

The person who has an air conditioner at home will become your savior. And if you are that person, you will in turn become the savior of many! In both cases, choose the coolest places to do your daily activities. There is nothing better than a wind of freshness to survive the 35 degrees!

2. Eating moisturizing foods

One word: H.Y.D.R.A.T.A.T.I.O.N. To endure through these unsustainable heats, you must keep yourself hydrated at all times, by consuming as much liquid as solid. Several fruits and vegetables, like tomato, cucumber, apple, are composed of water. Melon, for example, can contain  up to 95% water! So by privileging this type of food you make sure you stay well hydrated while absorbing a ton of nutrients.

3. Invite yourself in the pool of your neighborhood

We have already established that if you know someone who has an air conditioner, you are a lucky one. But if that person also has a pool, you really hit the jackpot! Otherwise, it is always possible to get information on the website of your city to locate the municipal swimming pools open to all. Although less glamorous, this option will allow you to refresh yourself at a lower cost and, moreover, work your tan a little. But do not forget your sunscreen!

4. Getting Chagnon ice cream

There is nothing more satisfying in a heatwave day than a big bowl of Laiterie Chagnon ice cream. With its six excellent flavors, everyone will find its account. As Santé Canada advises, in a heatwave, it is better to stay at home and limit our physical activities. So, all to your cones and take it easy!

5. Drinking again and again

Without repeating the number 2, we must remind you that it is always important to properly hydrate. Well, it must be admitted that water in large quantities may seem unattractive. The solution: Cheer up your water with juicy fruits and some fresh herbs like mint and basil. Quickly, you get tasty water that will keep you hydrated!
