Two new logos for Quebec consumers!
On March 15, 2013, during the Expo Manger Santé et Vivre Vert, Mr. Florent Gravel, president of the Conseil de promotion de l’ agroalimentaire québécois (CPAQ), also known as Aliments du Québec, and Mr. Martin Le Moine, president of the Filière biologique du Québec, launched new derivatives of the well-known logos: Aliments du Québec - Bio and Aliments préparés au Québec – Bio, in the presence of Mr. François Gendron, deputy prime minister and Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Quebec.
Through a partnership with the Conseil des appellations réservées et des termes valorisants (CARTV), Aliments du Québec now offers companies the opportunity to identify the origin of certified organic products through the use of these new derivatives.
"What we want above all is to make life easier for consumers by offering them one more tool to identify products that correspond to their values," said Mr. Florent Gravel, president of Aliments du Québec. Our organization, which brings together the entire industry, is proud to be the leader in origin identification. Moreover, consumers already know our logos very well and are actively looking for them. By combining our logos with a concept of production mode to create new derivatives, we avoid the overbidding of logos on the product and clarify the information for the consumer. "
For the first time, the biological mention and the origin of the products will be grouped under one visual and each of the three organizations involved will play a very important role in this partnership. Aliments du Québec continues to certify the origin of products and to promote Québec food products, while CARTV, which is responsible for ensuring compliance with the law which protects, among other things, the reserved designation for organic products, ensures that the products have been duly certified according to biological standards. For its part, La Filière biologique du Québec is mandated to ensure the valorisation of organic products in Quebec.
"It is always a pleasure to highlight the fruit of good dialogue that make it easier to identify foods from home. This initiative, which will allow consumers to more easily identify the origin of our organic products, fits perfectly with our desire to increase the share of Quebec products sold in Quebec. The policy of food sovereignty I intend to launch this spring will be based on the observation that Quebecers are increasingly fond of local products and are looking for varied foods that are good for their health, prepared responsibly. This policy will be an important lever for Quebec's economic future and I am confident that it will open the door for the development of such projects, which should be welcomed, "said Minister Gendron.
For Martin Le Moine, president of the Filière biologique du Québec, this collaboration with Aliments du Québec and the CARTV represents a significant step forward in the promotion of Quebec organic products. "The new derivatives offer undeniable advantages for companies who want to promote their products and value them to Québec consumers. I invite the 1,300 Quebec companies holding organic certification to use them on their products," said Mr. Le Moine.
