Congratulations to Les Mal-Aimés!

2026 Aliments du Québec au menu Restaurant Award Winner

Located in the heart of a vegetable farm in Cookshire-Eaton, in the Eastern Townships, Les Mal-Aimés offers fine dining that showcases fruits and vegetables grown on site, along with carefully selected local products. Wood-fired cooking also takes centre stage. Awarded a Michelin Green Star earlier this year, the restaurant celebrates a distinctive rural approach to gastronomy, guided by the seasons and rooted in close relationships with local producers and artisans from the Haut-Saint-François region, from field to plate.

“Congratulations to the other finalist restaurants! We all thought you were going to win, except us!” jokes Yannick Côté, market gardener and owner of Les Mal-Aimés. He was joined by Daniel Charbonneau, the restaurant’s chef, to accept the award. “We’re really not part of the traditional tourist circuit at all, but we’re absolutely thrilled to be in our gardens and in our kitchen with Daniel. It’s important for us to showcase Québec products. We source a lot directly from our farm, but we’re also fortunate to have, here in the Eastern Townships, a wonderful network of local producers to work with. We share this award with them,” he adds.

 

 

A huge congratulations to the entire Les Mal-Aimés team on this special distinction, chosen by the public. The winner was announced on September 29 at the Musée de la civilisation in Québec, during a festive evening hosted by Geneviève O’Gleman that brought together restaurateurs and members of Québec’s agri-food sector.

Geneviève O’Gleman’s Tasty Visits

Geneviève O’Gleman visited all five finalist restaurants for the 2026 Aliments du Québec au menu Restaurant Award!

Her experiences were shared in video on Aliments du Québec’s social media channels (Facebook and Instagram). Through her visits, she highlighted each restaurant’s approach and the important role they give to Québec-grown and Québec-made products.

The Aliments du Québec au menu recognition program, created by Aliments du Québec in collaboration with the Association Restauration Québec (ARQ) in 2014, now brings together more than 1,000 restaurants that give pride of place to Quebec food products in their kitchens.

Building on this initiative, the Prix restaurateur Aliments du Québec au menu was launched in 2018 to highlight, among the program’s recognized establishments, those that stand out for their actions and commitment to sourcing, using, and showcasing Quebec foods to their customers.
